Tournament Hunting in NY

Tournament Hunting in NY
Tournament hunting has been a popular sport throughout the Mid-West and Southern states for the better part of twenty years.Tournament events are primarily made up of two groups of hunting dogs, flushing breeds and pointing breeds.
There are numerous clubs and organizations
around the country that hold sanctioned and unsanctioned events in order to create a competitive stage for a hunter and his or her dog. We have traveled to events in Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Iowa to compete against some of the best dogs and handlers in the country. Through these competitions we have learned that our dogs can compete with the best this country has to offer.
Our goal at NYBDS is to promote tournament hunting in New York and surrounding states by holding our own events and join existing clubs and organizations across the country and assist with the growth of this great sport.
In the heart of every hunter and that of his dog, there is a desire to compete, feed that desire and go "tournament hunting"!! Join us at upcoming events and experience a rewarding day afield with your best buddy!!

In three years on the circuit Augie has amassed 27 BDC wins including 5 Majors and a Super Major.
Augie was crowned NBDC National Champion for the 2010 season. In 2012 Augie will achieve Legendary Status on the circuit.
Augie scored a perfect 112 on his NAVHDA Natural Ability test and is an AKC Junior Hunter. Drive and determination are the words that describe Augie in the bird field.
Augie has a great nose and can be seen carrying it high through the cover. At home Augie is a gentlemen in the house.

Morgan wins 1st BDC Super Major!!
Club NewsTom, Morgan, and Augie traveled to Colorado this past week to visit Tom's brother and his family and to do a little eastern Colorado pheasant hunting. Friday found Tom, brother Dan, and nephew Riley hunting pheasant near the Colorado/Nebraska border. The hunt was successful for all and then it was off to Hastings, Nebraska and the Bunker Hill Preserve for the BDC Invitational. This event is a three run hunt featuring one pheasant field, one quail field, and one chukar field. The scores from each field are added together and the highest score wins. Morgan had three clean runs for a total score of 488 and earned her first ever BDC Super Major!
Tom is very proud of Morgan for her consistent performance throughout the weekend. Tom said it was a great experience and more special because he was able to have his brother and nephew their.
The first weekend in February brings the Top Gun Championships in Wisconsin and Tom, Morgan, and Augie are looking forward to another great time with Steiny and the gang!

Tom and Morgan were knocked out in the first match play round but won the field in the second chance event and were put in to a head to head run-off and lost their chance at the finals.Tom and Augie advanced into the semi-final round and lost an exciting head to head match. Kathy and Jack won their first match play round and were knocked out in the second round in the Lady's division. Tom and Morgan made their way into Morgan's first ever Super Major finals by winning their field with Randy Hilligus as their partner in doubles. Morgan went on to a seventh place finish.
It was a very exciting weekend and the New York dogs and players held their own. Each Top Gun division saw 64 of the top dogs in the country.
Congratulations to handler Craig Steinbach and owner Mark Hanson from Wisconsin for their Top Gun and Doubles World Championships with German Shorthair "Jackson".
